Ayer recién nos esterábamos acerca de la nueva función Refresh and Reset en Windows 8, hoy también nos encontramos con otra novedad que tendrá el ultimo S.O. de Redmond, y es llamado Storage Pools, que supongo la traducción mas similar al castellano sería Grupos de Almacenamiento o más perfecto Almacenamiento en Grupos.
El Almacenamiento en Grupos o Storage Pools, vendría a ser el RAID0 ampliable virtualmente, o el del que ya estamos acostumbrados en Linux con el LMV o Logical Volume Manager.
Para explicarlo mejor el Storage Pools significa que si por ejemplo tienes un Disco duro de 1Tb (1024 Gb), puedes decirle a Windows 8 que quieres que su espacio virtual sea 20Tb digamos, lo que quiere decir que cuando vayas a tu panel de control, en vez de ver el típico 1Tb veraz 20Tb en su lugar, y bueno te preguntaras ¿que pasara cuando se llene los 1Tb?, pues bueno obviamente Windows no se va a inventar espacio que no hay, lo que tienes que hacer es simplemente colocar otro disco duro, sea interno o Externo, incluso memorias SD, MicroSD, cualquier tipo de tarjetas, Flash Memory sirve, para poder expandir tu espacio. No veraz 2 discos duros interno, 1 disco duro externo, 1 memoria flash, 3 MicroSD, solo veraz tu Disco Duro de 20Tb, por lo que literalmente se agrupan todos las unidades de almacenamiento en una unidad lógica y virtual. 
¿Que ventajas a parte del almacenamiento Virtual nos ofrece el Storage Pools?, bueno si no es suficiente el espacio virtual extra, entonces te gustara saber que además usar el Storage Pools en tus discos duro, te dará un rendimiento extra, y además menos errores de lectura o escritura, nuestros datos estarán respaldados en el resto de los discos y por supuesto podremos utilizar BitLocker.
¿Que desventajas tendremos al usar el Storage Pools?, no podremos poner otro Sistema Operativo a parte de Windows 8, ya que el Sistema de Archivos es diferente e irreconocible por los otros Sistemas Operativos.
Conclusión: Storage Pools es una gran opción para los usuarios de Windows, si aún no conocías esta función ahora podrás sacarle el jugo, tanto si eres un usuario básico con la amigable interfaz gráfica que tanto amas (?), como si eres un usuario avanzado usando puro comandos con el PowerShell.

about a 10/100/1000 connection because it just isn’t going to happen. Everything I’ve read on every forum I can find says it’s due to the weak processor that WD chose to use to run the Linux OS driving the whole thing. I get 11MB/s max, and that is using TerraCopy and not the even slower included windows explorer copy function. Moving my 130GB music collection (yes, all legal!) took hours. I manage that collection with iTunes and I’ve made the mistake of trying to update the ID3 tags on an entire genre of music…sloooooooow. Summary: Don’t expect the speed of an external USB or FireWire drive…it just isn’t going to happen, but it will serve up music and movies at the same time without missing a beat. The only thing to clear your schedule for is making large data transfers or updates.
